A406 Environmental & Safety Scheme
Whilst there have been some improvements and the area is starting to look better, we question whether TfL have achieved what they set out to do? If you look at the second page of Transport for London's document for the A406 Improvement Scheme you will see:
Objectives of the scheme
The scheme will introduce a predominantly two-lane dual carriageway with widened junctions. Its main objectives are to:
As a local community do we think it has achieved all or any of these objectives and where is there room for improvement.
May 2013: BHORA conducted a study of the Safety Issues on the A406. This report along with a report on the flower beds was sent to South West Enfield Partnership Board (SWEP) to be raised with TfL, and more recently to Joanne McCartney our London Assembly Member, for the same purpose.

- Improve the safety of all road users by reducing the number and severity of accidents
- Provide better crossing facilities for pedestrians
- Encourage cycling and walking in the area
- Increase the use of public transport by improving bus services
- Protect and improve the local environment
- Reduce ‘rat-running’ on side roads
